A high school student has died after she was hit by a school district vehicle not far from her school in northern Virginia.

On Tuesday, Jan. 13, at approximately 9:13 a.m. local time, officials responded to a report of a struck pedestrian at the Claiborne Parkway and Portsmouth Boulevard in Ashburn, Va., the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. When officers arrived, they discovered a female victim, later identified as Calina Yu, who was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
