2 Chattanooga children suffer serious burns in preventable scalding incident

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — Two young children are being treated at a burn center after a scalding incident in Chattanooga this week.

The Chattanooga Fire Department says a pot of boiling water was accidentally pulled off a stove, leaving the children with serious burns.

Fire officials say scald burns are the number one cause of burn injuries to children under the age of four, and thousands of children are burned by hot liquids every year. Because children have thinner skin than adults, they are more severely affected by scald burns. Some scald burns can even result in serious injury or death…
