Erie man dead following multi-vehicle crash in Mercer County

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, MERCER COUNTY, Pennylvania – Mercer County Coroner John Libonati was called to a multi-vehicle crash on I-79 in Mercer County on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s 511PA website, the crash happened on I-79 northbound just over one mile north of exit 122 in Jackson Township.

According to a release by Pennsylvania State Police, three semi-trucks were involved in the crash. One semi-truck was stopped in the right lane due to traffic and was struck by a semi-truck travelling behind it. Then a third semi-truck hit the second semi, which was resting in the left lane after crashing into the first trailer…
