Investigation finds Decatur police officer’s actions lawful in November shooting

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — The Decatur Police Department said that a thorough review of a November shooting involving an officer found the officer’s actions were lawful.

According to Decatur Police Chief Torry Mack, the shooting happened after the officer initiated a traffic stop on November 12, around 8:25 p.m. in the area of 12th Avenue SW and 1st Street SW. The vehicle continued at a low speed and came to a complete stop on 11th Avenue.
