TIMELINE: When strong cold front passes through Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla (WFLA) — The last of the showers are moving through this morning as a strong cold front passes. Skies will clear out late this morning, and winds will increase.

Thursday

Wind gusts could be up to 30 to 40 mph early this afternoon as colder air moves in. Temperatures will begin to drop early this afternoon, and it will be colder than it is this morning.

Freeze Warnings are in effect for areas north of I-4 and away from the south for areas south of I-4 for temperatures at or below freezing for 2 or more hours. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Pinellas, Coastal Hillsborough, Sarasota, and Manatee County for wind chills as low as 22 degrees.

Friday

After the cold start on Friday morning, temperatures only warmed into the upper 50s despite full sunshine.

Saturday

Saturday will be briefly warmer with temps in the low 70s. Another strong cold front moves in Saturday night and Sunday morning with a few showers.

Sunday

The rain clears out early Sunday, and just like today, temps will drop. It will be another frigid start Monday morning with temps in the 20s and 30s.

Some forecast models show snow on Sunday in the western Panhandle.

A gradual warming trend will ensue throughout next week, and low 70s will return late next week into the weekend.
