Swansea seeks new town administrator as Aronstein departs

SWANSEA — After five years of dedicated service to the town as its administrator, Mallory Aronstein’s tenure began during the pandemic era when municipal departments were more siloed than usual. Since then, Aronstein said, she’s “very proud of the service here,” in Swansea.

She confirmed her appointment as town manager in Mansfield on Jan. 9, and is preparing to make the transition in the months to come. Faced with her upcoming departure from Swansea, she spoke of capital improvements projects, economic development, and departmental restructuring that occurred in her time spent serving Swansea.

State and local partnering allowed Swansea to gain a new public library that was built ahead of schedule and under budget, Aronstein said, calling it a “case study,” exemplar of a moment where Swansea was able to leverage a state grant and forgo borrowing. Aronstein pointed to the Swansea sewer project, and a newly installed and monitored pollinator garden at the Medeiros Farm Recreational Complex, 1100 Bark St., that “pays homage” to Swansea’s “agrarian roots,” as quintessential of the success the town has achieved under her leadership…
