LAFAYETTE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A massive pile-up on Interstate-81 southbound in LaFayette closed parts of the interstate Thursday. Both lanes are now fully open.
State troopers told NewsChannel 9 that at least 37 cars, including three tractor-trailers, were involved in the pile-up. The pile-up started with 18 cars and grew with smaller crashes. A few people have broken bones, and at least seven people are being sent to hospitals, but police have not reported any life-threatening injuries.
