The so-called “TikTok trickster” was captured in North Carolina on Tuesday, but Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber says getting the accused Casanova con artist back to Alabama to face justice is proving to be a challenge. Barber says 56-year-old Brenton Fillers woos women on social media, then scams them out of their cash. In 2023, he says Fillers stole a Spanish Fort woman’s car after messaging her through the social media platform.
“You feel like you’re really stupid or you’re really such an idiot to get suckered into such a thing,” said the victim, who didn’t want to be identified.
“When we saw this case, we saw more than just being a theft of property case here in Spanish, Fort Alabama, where somebody lost their car. We saw this was a prolific career criminal,” said Barber…
