Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Much of Northern and Central Iowa

DES MOINES — The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of northern and central Iowa as snow showers and strong winds are expected to impact the region late Thursday night through Friday.

In northern Iowa, the advisory begins at midnight tonight and continues until 9 p.m. Friday. For central Iowa, the advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

Forecasters say residents can expect snow showers and snow squalls, with total snow accumulations of up to one inch. While snowfall amounts are expected to remain relatively light, strong winds gusting between 40 and 45 miles per hour could significantly reduce visibility…
