The quest for justice in a 2025 homicide case has taken a critical leap forward as the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has extradited the alleged suspect to Texas. In a statement released on social media, El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte reported that 23-year-old Angel Lozano, accused of killing 26-year-old Aaron Villa in Fabens, Texas, was transported from Colorado to El Paso County on January 13, 2026. The arrest followed nearly a year after the violent incident that took place in the early hours of March 20, 2025.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies had responded to a call regarding shots fired at about 1:43 a.m. in the 100 block of Mezcla, where they discovered Villa with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate life-saving attempts, Villa died after being taken to a local hospital. The investigation, a collaboration between the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Texas Rangers, led to Lozano’s identification as the prime suspect.
