JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Jackson councilman pushed back against allegations that he took bribes.
Councilman Kenneth Stokes, Ward 3, said the allegations are from a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) informant in 2021. The informant told agents he paid Stokes in exchange for favors.

The councilman claimed to know who the informant is and said he never met the informant. Stokes said if the informant’s story had any merit, he would have been indicted by now.
“Out of all the informants that you have with Jackson Police Department, the county sheriff’s department, the state police and federal police, don’t you know, it would be one who to say, ‘Yeah, Kenny talked to him at such such time.’ Don’t you know that would be one picture? I’m not asking for two or three. One. Can’t you find one person? Say, ‘Yeah, he talked to it,’ and they know it’s not true,” said Stokes…
