2 indicted after French Quarter carjacking that killed Uber driver

Two men were formally charged in connection with the death of an Uber driver who was killed during a carjacking in the French Quarter last fall.

An Orleans Parish grand jury indicted Brandon “Bee” Joseph on a charge of second-degree murder. Angel Martinez was also indicted on charges of second-degree murder as a principal, as well as being an accessory after the fact in the death of Miguel Stemley.

According to police, Stemley had just dropped off passengers near the intersection of Bienville and Burgundy streets when Joseph tried to carjack him. During the struggle, Stemley’s vehicle flipped over, trapping him underneath it. He was rushed to the hospital and later died from his injuries…
