Omaha restaurateur Caterina Malara’s granddaughters charged with stealing more than $550,000 from her trust

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Two Bellevue women have been charged with theft in connection with the unauthorized removal of more than $563,000 from the estate of their late grandmother’s trust up until her death 2023.

The grandmother was the founder of the much-beloved Malara’s Italian Restaurant in Omaha.

Ashley Gomez, 40, was arrested Thursday and booked into Douglas County Corrections on two counts of theft by unlawful taking greater than $5,000.
