New $60M apartment complex aims to address Omaha affordable housing crisis

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A new 156-unit apartment complex near South 21st and Pacific Streets aims to provide affordable housing options for families struggling with rising rental costs in Omaha.

The $60 million development in the Columbus Park neighborhood will offer rent based on a range of income levels, starting at around 30 percent of the area’s median income.

“We have about 22,000 households in Omaha that make less than $25,000 annually. And for those people, an affordable rent would be about $429 a month,” said Shannon Harner, executive director of the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority.
