ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — If you’re looking for a charitable way to throw shade at your ex, look no further. An Albuquerque nonprofit recently launched a Valentine’s campaign with a playful, slightly vindictive twist.
“So we wanted to provide a way to turn past heartbreak into a positive thing for the community cats,” said Street Cat Hub Community Outreach Coordinator Aryn Pearsall. “That’s how we came up with ‘Spay or Neuter Your Ex’ campaign, just to kind of provide a hilarious yet high-impact way to handle some lingering feelings while impacting the lives of the community cats of New Mexico… We’re offering a lighthearted approach to support a serious cause.”
As for how it works, patrons send their ex’s name along with a $25 donation to Street Cat Hub. The organization writes the ex’s name on a piece of paper, then places it with the cats undergoing sterilization surgery. Pearsall describes it as a way to “symbolically spay or neuter your ex.” And as for the $25, Pearsall said it’s put towards the surgeries…
