ELKMONT, Ala — Two men died when their twin-engine Beechcraft crashed in an Elkmont cotton field during a training flight in December 2023, and federal investigators say sedating cold medications taken by the pilot likely played a role in the fatal accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board has released its final report on the crash that killed 67-year-old private pilot William Huston and 31-year-old flight instructor Nikul Desai on Dec. 4, 2023.
According to the NTSB’s airplane performance study, the 1967 Beechcraft E95 “Travel Air” departed Huntsville International Airport around 11 a.m. for a multiengine training session.
