Army Corps makes progress on North Strand coastline amid beach renourishment project

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has placed nearly 500,000 cubic yards of sand along the Grand Strand coastline as part of a $72 million renourishment project that began in mid-December.

Crews have been working day and night, starting dredging operations at a small portion of Cherry Grove from 60th Avenue North and moving up the North Strand coastline to 17th Avenue South.
