Santa Barbara cracks down on rager at America’s No. 1 party school

Spring will look different this year in Santa Barbara with a crackdown on the signature blowout event for America’s No. 1 party school. Santa Barbara County supervisors voted earlier this week on ordinances that move to essentially kill UC Santa Barbara’s annual rite of spring celebration known as Deltopia.

On Tuesday, the supervisors disregarded the UCSB students’ pleas to leave intact their campus rager, which traditionally takes place over the first weekend of the university’s spring quarter. The students unanimously opposed the notion that Deltopia should be done away with, even with the promise of a sanctioned event to be spun up in its place.
