Trooper, tow operators hit while working crashes on Ohio interstates amid winter storm

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A trooper and two tow truck operators were injured Thursday when vehicles lost control on icy roads during a winter storm that brought up to 19 inches of snow to parts of northeast Ohio.

The crashes occurred as first responders worked accident scenes on Interstate 76 and Interstate 90, in Portage and Madison counties, which temporarily shut down both highways.

Madison County recorded one of the highest snowfall totals in Northeast Ohio with 15 inches, while parts of Portage County saw up to 10 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service…
