DART Cuts Two Irving Bus Routes, Reducing Local Service Nearly 30%

DALLAS, Texas – Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will eliminate two Irving bus routes next month as part of a systemwide service overhaul, a move that reduces the city’s bus service by nearly 30% and leaves only four remaining routes in operation.

Under changes that take effect February 2, 2026, DART will discontinue Route 255 Story and Route 225 Nursery, both long-running lines that connected Downtown Irving to key destinations. Route 255 linked Downtown Irving and Heritage Crossing with the North Lake College campus along Irving Boulevard and Story Road, while Route 225 connected Downtown Irving to the University of Dallas area at Highway 114.

With those routes eliminated, Irving will be served by four bus lines: Route 227 O’Connor, Route 229 MacArthur, Route 230 Irving Boulevard, and Route 231 South Belt Line…
