With tension in the air and a room full of constituents, the January 14 Township Board Meeting started at 7 pm, and the topic that was at the forefront of most citizens’ open comments were referencing the murky future of the township’s Assessor’s office and its employees.
There were copies of Resolution No. 2026-R01 readily available which was the Resolution Authorizing line item transfer in the general fund from senior center capital outlay to assessors office salaries that people referred to. In summary: $25,000 will be transferred from Senior Capital Outlay to the Assessor’s office.
There seemed to be people on both sides of the coin who either expressed displeasure and disgust with the decision to potentially oust Pete Poletti and his staff, and others who felt that he mishandled his position, his budget and would not like money to be transferred from the senior center to the Assessor’s office…
