A 45-year-old deli in Southeast Portland known for its hand-made sausages and grilled Reuben sandwiches has been named one of the 14 best German restaurants in America, according to a new list from food and drink website Tasting Table.
The food at Edelweiss Sausage & Delicatessen in the Brooklyn neighborhood “transports you to Germany in a spiritual sort of way,” Tasting Table wrote.
When it comes to German restaurants in Portland, your mind might go first to Stammtisch, Otto & Anita’s Schnitzelhaus or the Urban German Wursthaus. But Edelweiss isn’t exactly under the radar.
