Montgomery County, NY (WRGB) — An Amsterdam woman was arrested following a joint welfare fraud investigation, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jeffery T. Smith said members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit, working in collaboration with the Montgomery County Department of Social Services and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, arrested 27-year-old Juleica Ortiz Core on January 14, 2026.
Ortiz Core is charged with two counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, Class E felonies; one count of welfare fraud in the fourth degree, a Class E felony; and two counts of welfare fraud in the fifth degree, Class A misdemeanors…
