Buncombe County sheriff seeks help from other counties amid jail overcrowding

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is asking other North Carolina counties for help housing inmates as overcrowding worsens at the Buncombe County Detention Center.

In a letter obtained by News 13, Sheriff Quentin E. Miller said the county may need temporary space for about 50 male inmates and is reaching out to fellow sheriffs across the state to determine whether additional beds are available.
