TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WBRC) – It’s been more than six years since Homewood teen Aniah Blanchard, 19, was reported missing in Auburn. The man charged with kidnapping and murder will stand trial in about six weeks.
Ibraheem Yazeed appeared in Macon County Circuit Court Friday for a pretrial hearing as attorneys iron out the final details ahead of the March trial term. Yazeed appeared engaged, talking with his attorneys during the hearing, and at times, glanced at Blanchard’s family.
Yazeed let the judge know he’s concerned about getting a fair trial due to the attention this case has received and with the passage of Aniah’s Law, which gives judges broader discretion to deny bond for some felony charges.
