St. Anne’s Hill district park set for restoration after community raises $70K

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Months after playground equipment burned down in East Dayton, a new one is rising from the ashes after the community raised tens of thousands of dollars in response to the arson.

An arsonist razed a playset in Bomberger Park in the historic St. Anne’s Hill district in early August 2024. Since then, the community has rallied to raise more than $70,000 to begin the rebuilding process.

“We worked for three years to get it in only to have it destroyed two years later,” said Justine Kelly, a board member with the St. Anne’s Hill Historical Society. “It was a knife in the heart.”…
