First shots fired at Cobb County’s new $21.5M public safety firing range

The first shots have fired at the county’s new $21.5 million firing range, a joint facility of the Cobb Sheriff’s Office and Cobb Police Department.

Each agency performed their own “first shot” ceremonies, where officers and deputies, along with Cobb Sheriff Craig Owens and Cobb Police Chief Dan Ferrell, fired a single round from their weapons, to celebrate the new facility’s opening.

The 65,000-square-foot firing range will primarily be used by the Cobb Police Department and sheriff’s office for weapons training. It is located next door to the Cobb County Public Safety Training Academy, at 2435 East-West Connector, in Austell…
