Maserati driver charged after chase, crash on Winchester

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 43-year-old man is accused of leading state troopers on a chase in a Maserati at speeds over 100 mph before crashing into another vehicle on Winchester Road early Thursday morning.

Tyrone Taylor Jr. is in jail on $100,000 bond with a long list of charges including evading arrest, reckless endangerment, DUI and drug charges. A court date is set for Monday.

State troopers say around 2:45 a.m., they clocked Taylor’s Maserati doing 70 mph on Lamar Avenue near Knight Arnold. They turned on their blue lights and he pulled over in a motel parking lot.

However, troopers say he then sped off, with a man and woman inside his car. They said Taylor reached 140 mph on Winchester, driving on the wrong side of the road, until he blasted through a red light at Winchester and Perkins, going about 100 mph…
