Santee Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested En Route to Mexico at San Ysidro Port of Entry

On Monday, the routine of Santee’s Chase Bank was disrupted by a bank robbery attempt. At approximately 9:00 AM, a man entered the branch at 10 Town Center Parkway and, without brandishing a weapon or causing immediate alarm, he slipped a teller a note demanding money.

The suspect was described as a White male, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old. For his alleged attempt at illicit gain, he donned a costume of anonymity, draped in a black zip-up sweatshirt, black pants, a black baseball cap, and black sunglasses, all the while carrying a black backpack. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, aided by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, commenced an exhaustive investigation leading to his identification.

Authorities did not take long to link the suspect to 31-year-old Bruce Clark Furze, a man previously known to the Santee Sheriff’s Station. It was through the assistance of video surveillance that Furze’s image was confirmed, allowing deputies to see beneath the veil of his makeshift disguise…
