VERONA, Wis. — Criminal charges will not be filed against a Camp Shalom counselor after a child accused the counselor of sexual assault.
Camp Shalom is a program of Jewish Federation of Madison that has been in operation for nearly 70 years.
In a letter from the Jewish Federation of Madison Executive Committee, during the final days of the 2025 camp season, JFM staff were informed of a report of a sexual assault of a minor camper by an adult counselor. Camp Shalom staff said they reported the matter to Child Protective Services. CPS recorded the report and a Dane County Sheriff’s Office investigator was assigned two days later. JFM said the staff member in question was sent home, directed not to return, and will never be eligible to work for any JFM program again…
