ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – An arroyo in northeast Albuquerque is drawing significant attention from neighbors who want the city to focus on it too.
Paul Jessen, a former law enforcement officer, is dedicated to cleaning up the North Pino Arroyo. He says he frequently finds trash and needles in the area, which he believes are linked to drug-driven encampments.
“I’m sure the city’s overwhelmed, and they can’t really focus on one area unless it’s brought to their attention,” Jessen said.
The city’s response
Albuquerque’s Solid Waste Department acknowledges the issue. Alex Bukoski, Public Information Officer for the department, said, “The more details, the better. It just helps us understand what the situation is, so we can respond effectively.”…
