Hawaii residents could still see fireworks penalties from NYE

HONOLULU (KHON2) — As we get further into 2026, Hawaii’s Department of Law Enforcement is still handing out penalties for fireworks-related crimes on New Year’s Eve.

“We still have some follow-up investigations against households that let off,” DLE Director Mike Lambert told Wake Up 2Day. “So even though we weren’t able to give out the amount of tickets that we’re hoping to give, we were still going to have investigations against households, so even if you didn’t get a ticket that night, you may get something in the mail.”
