TBI names suspect that shot and wounded a Chattanooga Police officer at Hixson gas station

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau Investigation has released the name of the man that injured a police officer during a shootout at a gas station on Highway 153 in Hixson.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. on December 28th. The man opened fire at Circle K as officers arrived on the scene , and officers shot back. He stole a police car and drove off, initiating a pursuit.

TBI released the man’s identity on Saturday, saying that James Alvin Stockwell of Dunlap was indicted on the following charges on January 12th by a Hamilton County Grand Jury:

  • Attempted first degree murder (3 counts)
  • Aggravated assault
  • Carjacking
  • Possession of a firearm with prior felony conviction
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

According to TBI, Stockwell was moved from the Sequatchie County Jail on Saturday, where he had been booked on previous unrelated charges…
