CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — A road many Missionary Ridge neighbors rely on to avoid busy highways has been shut down for months, and residents say the long closure is creating new safety problems.
South Crest Road has been closed since October because of drainage and sewer issues. It normally serves as a bypass for drivers trying to avoid heavier traffic. Since the closure, neighbors say traffic has been pushed onto smaller streets that were never meant to handle it.
“They got done with it, and then it’s like, okay, are they going to ever put the road back?” said Stan Corcoran, who lives in the area.
Neighbors say they are glad the city is fixing a long-standing flooding problem, but they want clearer communication about when the road will reopen…
