DELTON-KELLOG, MICH. — What began as a temporary place to stay over Christmas break has become a permanent family for a West Michigan superintendent and a teenager who once walked into his office in crisis.
Jeremy Wright, now superintendent of Delton-Kellogg Schools, was serving as a high school principal in December 2023 when he learned one of his students, then 15-year-old Bridgett, did not have a place to stay over the holiday break.
As the time, Bridgett was moving between foster placements and plans for where she would stay over Christmas were uncertain. Wright said the possibility that she would be alone during the holidays weighed heavily on him.
“She kind of broke down in my office,” Wright said. “And with Christmas and the holiday time, I just felt like we as a family had to do something.”…
