A Lake Panasoffkee woman was arrested with methamphetamine in her purse after being stopped in Fruitland Park.
An officer pulled over a white Toyota convertible for failing to stop before the white stop bar at Rooks Avenue and Pine Ridge Dairy Road at 10:05 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Both the female driver and 74-year-old Diane Moore Manly tried to get out and were ordered to remain inside.
While asking the driver for her information, the officer noticed Manly searching through her purse on her lap. She did not have her ID but gave her name and date of birth. When asked why she was digging through her bag, she stated she was looking for her car keys, the report said.
The driver subsequently agreed to let law enforcement search her vehicle without hesitation. But she looked confused and uneasy when told to put her belongings on the seat, so a K-9 was brought to sniff around the vehicle. It alerted to the odor of narcotics and led to the continuation of the search, the report said…
