CBP official describes what agents say happened at Roosevelt High School, Whipple Building

MINNEAPOLIS — Federal agents say they deployed pepper spray and “short-range chemical munition” when individuals allegedly attempted to interfere with arrests being made adjacent to Roosevelt High School last week.

In a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Deputy Incident Commander Kyle Harvick provided a detailed account from agents about what they say happened near Roosevelt High School on Jan. 7 and at the Whipple Building on Jan. 8.

Harvick said that the Roosevelt incident stemmed from a woman who allegedly “rammed” a vehicle in a Border Patrol’s convoy, just hours after a federal agent shot and killed Renee Good in south Minneapolis. The statement goes on to say that the agents pursued the driver, who was observed driving at a “high rate of speed” before agents were able to block her in near the school…
