Tulsa food truck overwhelmed by community support after generator theft

TULSA, Okla. — When Tony and Shanice Newman’s food truck generator broke down on New Year’s Day, they thought things couldn’t get worse. Then the generator a friend loaned them was stolen.

The Newmans run “Brothers Just Winging It,” a food truck that’s been operating for about a year across Tulsa, Osage, Bixby, north Tulsa, Quapaw and Tahlequah. Their slogan is “It’s what love tastes like,” and they got a powerful taste of that love when their community stepped in to help.

On New Year’s Day, their generator died while serving their last customer. The generator powers everything in a food truck, the lights, refrigerator, water pump and point-of-sale system. Without it, there’s no business…
