HONOLULU (KHON2) – It was January 17, 1893, when Queen Liliuokalani, the rightful sovereign of the Hawaiian Kingdom, was illegally overthrown by American and European businessmen with the assistance of the United States government.
133 years later, that story continues to be shared, and the Queen continues to be honored.
A statue that speaks to the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom
Tomorrow will mark that 133-year date, and there will be a peace march commemorating such an event, and that will start from Maunaala down to the grounds of Iolani Palace.
