Michigan’s new rail plan to connect the state is on track, seeks Michigander input

FLINT, Mich.— Northern Michigan, mid-Michigan, and Metro Detroit could soon be connected by a rail service that stretches hundreds of miles long.

Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities, a Traverse City-based non-profit, is working on a long-term plan to create a passenger rail line that would run from Petoskey to Detroit, and they are seeking additional public comments on the idea.

Michigan’s North + South Passenger Rail is a train service that connects communities through already-existing rail lines. The roughly-300 mile corridor has twelve potential stations, and nearly double that in existing Amtrak stations…
