BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A murder case was dismissed Friday after testing determined the defendant’s DNA wasn’t on the pellet gun used in the shooting death of a man in Oildale, according to the Public Defender’s Office and court records.
Darin Lee Williford is no longer facing a charge of first-degree murder — or any charges — in the death of Mitchell Lee Farley after Friday morning’s hearing in Department 14 of Superior Court.
“This case serves as a reminder that there is a good reason why all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until they are proven guilty in court,” said Deputy Public Defender Ajaib Gill in a news release. “Mr. Williford is glad to have his name cleared and looks forward to getting back to his family and moving on with his life.”…
