Mother and son in Rock Hill arrested on dogfighting charges

YORK, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A mother and son from Rock Hill were arrested on more than 20 combined charges after state officials determined dogs on their property had injuries associated with dogfighting.

According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement, their Dogfighting Unit executed a search warrant Jan. 6 at the York County property owned by 67-year-old Thalia Lavonne Feemster and Corey Hardin, 35. Feemster allegedly told agents that the 11 dogs on the property belonged to her son.

The warrant states that multiple items associated with dogfighting were found, and multiple dogs had open wounds, oral trauma and/or were underweight. A veterinarian determined scarring was consistent with dogfighting.

Feemster was charged with Conspiracy and Ill Treatment of Animals, and on Jan. 10, Hardin was charged with:

  • 10 counts of Animal Fighting or Baiting,
  • 10 counts of Ill Treatment of Animals,
  • Conspiracy, and
  • Possession of Firearms or Ammunition by Person Convicted of Certain Crimes.

Both Feemster and Hardin were booked into the Moss Justice Center in York County. The case will be prosecuted by the 16th Circuit Solicitor’s Office…
