CLEVELAND (WJW) — The RMS Titanic ocean liner sunk to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean after striking an iceberg in 1912. Still more than 100 years later, a deep fascination remains with the tragic event that took the lives of 1,500 people.

This spring, the Great Lakes Science Center in downtown Cleveland is bringing the immersive “TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition” to Northeast Ohio.

Opening May 21, the exhibition includes around 200 authentic artifacts from the ship’s wreckage, reconstruction of some of the ship’s rooms and also a virtual reality experience.

“This carefully curated set of real artifacts tells the story of Titanic from her construction, the human stories of her passengers and crew, and the trauma of her sinking and decades under the ocean,” Tomasina Ray, President of RMS Titanic, Inc. and Director of Collections, said in a press release. “We’re excited to share not only the real artifacts, but the enhancement of the partnership with Titanic: Honor & Glory which allows visitors to experience the artifacts as they were in 1912—when they sank after only four days at sea.”

Tickets for the event are separate from a general admission to the Great Lakes Science Center, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Find out much more about pricing right here…
