Cuyahoga jury rejects self-defense claim in 2025 Bedford murder

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cuyahoga County jury on Wednesday rejected a Warrensville Heights man’s claim that he shot and killed Clarence Houston in self-defense following a brawl at a Cleveland casino last year.

Tyrell Chandler, 29, will be sentenced Jan. 20 by Common Pleas Judge David Matia on charges including murder, felonious assault and discharging a gun near a prohibited area. He faces life in prison with parole eligibility.
