Jimmy Connors Pleads Guilty to Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan

Jimmy Connors, 18, has pled guilty in Manhattan’s fatal car crash that claimed the lives of two individuals on the Henry Hudson Parkway. Connors admitted to two counts of Manslaughter in the Second Degree and two counts of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, with his sentencing set for February 27, as reported by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announcement, on the morning of August 24, 2024, Connors was driving a Chevy Silverado truck the wrong way down a northbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with another vehicle. The incident, which occurred at approximately 2:25 a.m. near West 165th Street, left the victims, cousins Kirk Walker and Robert McLaurin, to tragically succumb to their injuries shortly after being transported to local hospitals. After the crash, Connors attempted to obviously evade responsibility by fleeing into the surrounding woods, this rendered his vehicle destroyed by fire.

District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. highlighted the prolonged grief of the victims’ families stating, “The defendant now faces a significant state prison term for his extraordinarily reckless conduct and extensive efforts to evade accountability.” The prosecution team, led by Assistant D.A.s Julie Nobel and Elaine Ortyl, along with their supervisors and the Chief of the Trial Division, made considerable efforts to prevent Connors from fleeing the country and was successful in bringing about the plea, as per the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office…
