MADISON, Wis. — John Kavanaugh, longtime owner of Esquire Supper Club on Sherman Avenue, died on Tuesday.
Kavanaugh’s parents bought the restaurant in 1947, and for nine months, he passed off ownership of the club to local barman Craig Spaulding. He regained management in February 2025.
