InspireNOLA hosting MLK weekend events

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is Monday, but festivities kick off this weekend.

InspireNOLA Charter Schools is hosting its annual MLK Parade. This year’s parade, dubbed the Algiers America MLK Celebration Parade, will march through Algiers under the theme “Still Dreaming for the Children of New Orleans.” The parade route will begin at L.B. Landry Avenue, continue along Newton Street and General Meyer and conclude at Edna Karr High School. The parade also features 13 bands, trolleys, floats and a number of community groups. The parade begins at noon on Saturday.

On Monday, the schools host the MLK Basketball Classic at McDonogh 35 High School gymnasium in the 7th ward. The classic will feature three games, with the first beginning at…..
