A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Austin and San Antonio metropolitan areas, as well as much of South Central Texas, due to critical fire weather conditions expected throughout Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST, driven by a combination of gusty north winds, extremely low relative humidity, and dry fuels following a recent cold front.
Meteorologists warn that these factors significantly increase the risk of rapid wildfire spread.
