SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A Davis County man was sentenced to one year in prison after he attempted to steal over $2 million while working as an employee for the IRS.
Rodney Quinn Rupe, 47, was sentenced to just over 12 months in prison and two years of supervised release for wire fraud, according to officials with the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Utah.
Rupe’s sentencing comes over six months after he pleaded guilty to attempting to steal the money while working with the IRS. Officials said he “abused his position” and attempted to steal millions from the government and ExxonMobil in April 2022…
