Man found guilty in Kimberly home invasion

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – A Jefferson County jury has found a man guilty of breaking into a home, kidnapping and robbing victims in Kimberly in 2023.

The charges stem from a Feb. 25, 2023, incident when Kevin Underwood, Kenyatta Looney and a third suspect under 18 reportedly followed a family to their home in Kimberly, broke in and robbed them.

Underwood was previously arrested in 2021 for hindering prosecution and was accused of harboring a murder suspect. He was out on bond for the hindering prosecution charge when he was arrested in connection with the Kimberly home invasion.

In September 2024, all three suspects were indicted by a grand jury. Looney was charged with three counts of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.

In the 2024 indictment, Underwood was also charged in connection with additional kidnapping and robbery allegations that occurred in December 2022 in Birmingham.
